Giving the Gift of Time: Volunteering in the Community
June 6, 2022
As many nonprofits and organizations continue to welcome back in-person volunteers, CCF is committed to helping donors identify opportunities that align with their interests, values and schedule. Whether you are new to volunteering or seasoned in gifting your time, we encourage you to reflect on several considerations in shaping your volunteer engagement. Asking questions can be a helpful way to start simple and build upon your volunteering goals. For example, are you interested in working with a specific population, age group, or community? What might you like to accomplish with the time you have available to donate? Would you like friends and family to join you?
“Centering nonprofit needs and goals are just as essential as taking the patience and care to grow in your journey as a volunteer. Together, they lead to a fulfilling volunteer experience.” – Terri Mosqueda, Vice President of Development and Donor Relations
While there are many ways to engage in volunteering, CCF has gathered a few tips and resources that can help you along in your journey. Please take a look at our DonorConnect resource on The How and Why of Volunteering. You will learn how to determine if a volunteer opportunity is a good fit for both you and the organization, and how you can use volunteering to engage friends and family in your philanthropy.
The community connections made from volunteering can be deeply rewarding and we are here to help. Please feel free to contact your Relationship Manager or the Donor Relations Team at donorrelations@calfund.org if you have any questions.
